Dr. Komai's Residence

● Summary  

 

The residence of the Komai family was designed by William Vories, an architect, and constructed as the private house of Dr. Suguru Komai who was an authority in the study of genetics in 1927. It is designated as a tangible cultural asset by Kyoto city for its historic and cultural value. It has a good quality as the Western-style house in the early Showa period and also the original condition of the building has been well preserved. It was donated to Japan Natural Trust by courtesy of the owner in 2002.
